Biographical Notes Pólya was a painter and graphic artist, educated in Budapest, Szolnok and Paris. From 1912 to 1919, he was a member of the Kecskemét colony of artists. During 1925 and 1928, Pólya travelled to the United States, and published an album recounting the journey of the delegation who had gone to America to mark the unveiling of the Kossuth Statue. In the 1930s, he lived in the Szolnok colony of artists, acting as a leader. As well as painting landscapes and figural compositions, Pólya produced caricatures, book covers and poster designs, and also illustrated the works of Hungarian writers such as Gyula Krúdy and Frigyes Karinthy.
